A few years ago we began subscribing to the Collin County Assumed Names list directly
from the County Clerk’s office to use it as a source of names for advertising
our web design services. Each week the county would distribute the list and
then we’d spend hours manually cleaning it up so that it could be used in
a mail merge.
We spoke with other subscribers and they were in the same boat… the files from
the county were a mess: names on one row, address on another, inconsistent
formatting, etc. Everyone was having to manually clean up the list before it
was really usable. Which meant that a lot of times people weren't really
using the list as they just didn't have the time to fix it.
So we wrote some software that parses and cleans up the list automatically and
began reselling the output here. The response has been very positive and
